Ghana Is Longer Safe For Journalists; A Wake Up Call On GJA and International Groups

All indications have shown Ghana is no longer safe for the media to operate without their lives being threatened by politicians and its supporters.

The media in Ghana over the years have sparingly seen their lives under watch by murderers and had worked tirelessly to seeing the growth of this country.

Today such a trend has taken a different turn and that seems to be no one’s business. I knew from day one that the murder of journalist Ahmed Suale was going to encourage many politicians to use their boys to perpetrate similar act, because the killers have been shielded and to date, there has never been an arrest of suspects.

Life threats messages to journalists lately has become rampant and this comes after 2020 elections.

A few days ago was Captain Smart whose life was in danger and later properties were stolen by supposed robbers. Personally, I doubt they were robbers.

Yesterday, the life of Vim Lady was under threat following her works on the 2020 elections.

And Again, a freelance journalist Manasseh Azure received life threats message following his piece he released about electoral commission.

Today, another life threats message has been received by GTV journalist Abdul Hayi Moomen and still counting……

Per what have been observed so far it is undoubtedly true that Ghana is no longer safe for journalists……
