However, grounded forms of meat such as ground beef, sausage and the likes have recently been reported to be more poisonous than we taught. Sausage is ground meat that is made from a variety of animal meats grounded together.
Recent studies indicate that eating raw sausage or undercooked sausage can end one’s life. How does this happen?
Raw sausage is known to contain the parasite called Trichinella – a parasite that causes Trichinosis. Trichinosis is a foodborne illness that is caused by eating meats that are infected with worms mostly pork meat but it can be any other meat as well.
How do you know you are infected with Trichinosis?
Just like any other illness, Trichinosis when affected alerts the body through signs and symptoms. Some of the signs and symptoms include abdominal pain, headaches, fever, nausea, vomiting, fatigue and more. So if you notice these signs after going hard on raw sausage then you should visit the hospital.
So will eating raw sausage hurt you?
The short answer is yes and that is because raw meats contain harmful bacteria which can really make you sick and can even kill you.
How do you prepare your sausage to make sure it is safe to eat?
Generally, most meat needs to be heated to a certain temperature before they are called a safe diet. When it comes to sausage, the pork, beef and lamb types should be cooked at 160F while that of the chicken and turkey should be around 165F.
