A lot of people suffer from pains that they feel under their left ribs, and the pains can be of a sharp, mild, or dull aching type, but the people who suffer from this condition are often not aware of the cause or reasons behind it. According to Healthline, the human rib cage has twelve ribs each on the right and left side, and they are arranged in order to keep the organs that are located beneath them; when any of the organs becomes infected or affected as a result of sustained injury, it results in a painful sensation that can be felt under the left rib.In this article, I want to briefly discuss the causes of pain under the left ribcage.
1. One of the main causes of pain under the left rib is a medical condition known as costochondritis, which involves the inflammation of the rib cartilage that links the rib to the breastbone.
2. Another cause of pain in the left rib is pancreatitis, which is a medical issue that affects the pancreas and causes it to become infected or inflamed, and this also results in pain.
3. When someone sustains an injury or suffers a severe medical condition that results in a ruptured spleen, the person will experience pain in the left rib.
4. When the stomach wall lining is infected or inflamed, a painful sensation will be felt close to the left rib cage. The infection is caused by bacteria, while the inflammation can be caused by excessive alcohol intake and misuse of drugs. When the stomach lining gets inflamed by these things, it results in a medical condition known as gastroitis, which causes pain in the left rib cage.
5. Another cause of pain in the left ribs is the effect of kidney stones or kidney infection, and this can cause severe pain when not medically attended to on time.
