From the management of GCB, according to the Bank of Ghana (BoG) regulations, financial institutions in the country will have to transfer the cash balance of accounts, which have not had any financial activity over the past years, to the central bank of Ghana,

Financial institutions in the country, are expected to keep reminding owners of such dormant accounts until the time limit for the dormant accounts to be entirely closed is reached.

GCB financial management seems to have made banks innovate ways to bring back life into such dormant accounts as they run promotion to the general public to revive the dormant account. A promotion from GCB Bank as captured on their official Facebook page reads:

“Has your GCB Account been inactive for over (2) years?

Activate your account at any GCB Bank branch and get a reward. Customers who activate with a GHC 100 and above will also get a GHC 50 reward at the end of the month.
