The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Nigeria is a federal agency under the federal ministry of health.
This organization is saddled with the responsibility of regulating and controlling the manufacture, exportation, importation, advertising, and distribution of drugs, cosmetics, medical devices, chemicals, and packaged water.
According to the Punch, NAFDAC has recalled five brands of male s3x-enhancement pills sold on Amazon. These recalled products are marketed as dietary supplements for male s3xual enhancement in the online store.
NAFDAC’s Director-General, Prof. Moji Adeyeye, mentioned this on Monday. He disclosed that the recall was a result of recent laboratory findings on the s3x-enhancement pills.
The pills were said to contain sildenafil and tadalafil. These two are key ingredients found in approved products for the treatment of erectile dysfunction.
The agency highlighted that the safety and efficacy of products containing sildenafil and tadalafil had not been established. Hence, they are subject to recall.
Laboratory investigations revealed that tadalafil and sildenafil ingredients are capable of lowering blood pressure to dangerous levels that may be life-threatening.
According to NAFDAC, the recall of these products was initiated when a notification was sent by Amazon to the Food and Drug Agency in the US. The notification contained laboratory analysis which verified that the products contained undeclared tadalafil and sildenafil.
NAFDAC is notifying the public of a voluntary recall of the brands of male s3x-enhancement pills by their manufacturing companies.
The agency also advised consumers to discontinue the purchase and use of these products. These implicated products should be handed over to the nearest NAFDAC office.
