The President of Ghana, Nana Akufo-Addo has assured Christian Leaders of efforts at working on modalities to lift the ban on public gathering.

The President during his first update on measures taken to fight COVID-19 placed a ban on public gathering including parties, festivals, Church services, muslim services, weddings and clubbing.

This was to help ensure that the various social distancing protocols are adhered to by all Ghanaians.

At a meeting to update Christian leaders, the President said he’s aware how the ban is affecting the Church but was quick to add that he will meet with the leadership to discuss the modalities for the ban to be lifted.

He said “You are major actors in the struggle, the banning of public gatherings that affects the Churches affects each one of you. I felt that with all of this as the background, with the role that you have already played, and continue to play, it would be a good moment for us to meet again and exchange views as to the way forward for our country”.

On their part, the leadership of the Clergy pledged their unwavering support for government as it takes continued steps to stop the spread of the novel Coronavirus, Covid-19 within the Ghanaian territory.
