Good News As GNAT Finally Speaks On Teachers’ Upgrading Challenges

The General Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) Thomas Musah has assured teachers, that issues relating to challenges being faced by teachers who applied for upgrading in the Ghana Education Service to their various ranks are being worked on.

Mr Musah was responding to questions regarding teachers who applied for upgrading but have still not being upgraded for so many years, in a panel discussion on THE FORUM show hosted by Ellis Ferdinand on Summer Radio, Saturday, February 6, 2021.

According to him, there have been a series of meetings with the management of the Ghana Education Service (GES) with regards to solving the upgrading challenges.

He argued that it was very unfortunate teachers who qualified for upgrading and have submitted so many documents could still be denied what was due them.

He indicated the teachers shall hear from them after the outcome of their meetings with the GES and other stakeholders, on their next line of action.

 

Thomas was very optimistic, that the matters of upgrading, promotions and the general welfare of teachers was very dear to the union leaders.

Upgrading Challenges

Teachers at the GES who qualified and submitted their documents for upgrading were being denied and or delayed with their upgradings without any subsequent notice from their employer, the GES.

The teachers said they successfully completed their Bachelor Degree courses and applied for upgrading and promotions to the rank of principal superintendent but have still not head any positive response from the GES.
