Having a thick semen is not always a problem, but it may become an issue, if it happens frequently.
There may be a problem with your prostate or seminal vesicles if your semen is always thick. Semen hyper viscosity is the medical term for having very thick sperm. Having a thick semen may make it difficult for the movement of sperm cells.
A man may find it more difficult to get a woman pregnant. If a man’s semen comes out in strands rather than droplets, it is termed very thick. It’s deemed thick if it’s solid and dense.
This article explains certain factors that can cause a man’s semen to thicken.
1. Not releasing a discharge frequently
A man who rarely engages in s3x may not have the time to expel a bodily fluid. It is possible that the semen will appear thick and substantial when he eventually erupts.
2. Not taking enough water
When you don’t drink enough water, your semen may get thicker because it lacks water. Take plenty of water if your semen is particularly thick.
3. Problems in the prostate or seminal vesicles
The sperm from the testicles, the seminal fluid from the seminal vesicles, and a small amount of fluid from the prostate make up semen. When the prostate or seminal vesicles are inflamed, this might cause the semen to thicken significantly.
As a result of an issue in the seminal vesicles, the prostate is secreting more fluid and hence the semen’s thickness. If the proteins in the prostate and seminal vesicles have changed, this may also be a factor.
If you’re always releasing a thick semen, it may be a symptom of a problem and you should see a urologist.
