Getting older is a fact of life. Changes naturally occur in our skin as we age, however, just because you are going to have to face the realities of ageing at some point or another, that doesn’t mean you have to face them sooner than is necessary. However, the reasons for the premature signs of ageing aren’t always obvious. Nonetheless, certain lifestyles can contribute to gradually losing elastic tissue which in effect makes you look older than your real age.
To have radiant and youthful-looking skin, you should be mindful of certain lifestyles.
– Unhealthy eating habits; you should be mindful of what you consume on a daily basis as it can eventually show its effects on your skin. Sugary drinks, fatty foods and coffee can speed up ageing.
– Not getting enough sleep; It is not getting a good number of hours of sleep but the quality of sleep matters.
– Prolonged use of electronic devices; This one may sound outrageous,. According to Dermatologists, light emitted from devices such as mobile phones, computers and tablet PC screens can cause damage to the skin and eventually cause premature ageing.
-Too much intake of alcohol; alcohol can have a negative effect on the body’s ability to synthesize collagen, leading to more wrinkles and sagging on your body.
– Being dehydrated; Dehydration can make your skin look dull and lifeless and may even emphasize fine lines and wrinkles, while well-hydrated individuals typically enjoy more plump and youthful complexions.
– Bad body posture; Poor posture deflects the backbone of its normal alignment, and as a result, the muscles and bones become abnormally tense and make you old beyond your age.
– Putting on too much makeup; wearing excessive makeup especially oil-based products can obstruct your skin pores and cause outbreaks that result in premature lines and wrinkles which make you age faster.
People fantasize when they are told to look younger than their actual age, we must therefore practise a healthy lifestyle to have radiant and youthful-looking skin.
