Statistics show that 30% of people in the world suffer from recurrent headaches. Interestingly, some foods can trigger headaches.
According to Healthline, people suffering from migraines and chronic headaches should avoid these products as much as possible.
These products include:
– Cheese
Cheese contains a substance called “tyramine”. This substance can cause headaches when ingested in large quantities.
– Sausages
During the preparation of these products, nitrate, nitrites, etc. preservatives are used. These substances cause constriction of blood vessels. Compression of the arteries leads to headaches.
– Freeze Ice cream
Ice cream, one of our favourite desserts, can also trigger headaches. Frequent consumption of cold ice cream causes a sharp narrowing of the arteries. This leads to sudden headaches.
– Chocolate
Dark chocolate is especially rich in caffeine. After eating a lot of dark chocolate, a person can get a headache.
– Banana
Bananas, and especially banana peels, are rich in tyramine. This substance stimulates the development of headaches. When eating a banana, clean it very carefully so that the fibres in the skin of the peel do not remain on the banana.
– Cured Meats
Cured meats, such as deli meats, ham, hot dogs, and sausages, all contain nitrate preservatives to keep their colour and flavour. These foods can cause nitric oxide to be released into the bloodstream, which is thought to widen brain blood vessels.
Nitric oxide might cause or contribute to migraines.
– Artificial Sweeteners
Artificial sweeteners are found in a lot of processed goods. These are sugar substitutes that are used to sweeten foods and beverages.
However, some sweeteners have been linked to migraines. Aspartame is known to be a migraine trigger in particular.
– Caffeine
Migraines and headaches can be caused by drinking too much caffeine or going through caffeine withdrawal.
Caffeine, on the other hand, can help prevent migraine attacks, according to the American Migraine Foundation. It can also help with headache relief when used on a regular basis.
Caffeine-containing foods and beverages: Coffee, Tea and Chocolate.
– Alcohol
One of the most prevalent things thought to cause migraines is alcohol. According to one study trusted Source, alcohol was one of the most common migraine causes for almost 35% of the participants.
Over 77 per cent of those who cited alcohol as a trigger said red wine was a trigger.
Dehydration, which is a major factor in the development of headaches, can be caused by alcohol.
