When it comes to hygiene, it is generally believed that the more you groom and clean yourself, the healthier you will be.
However, it is necessary for you to know that there are times when cleaning a body part too often can cause more harm than good. This is because some body parts don’t really need frequent cleaning to keep them healthy.
Below are 7 body parts you shouldn’t clean frequently:
1. Ear Canal
You will bear me witness that majority of people make use of cotton swabs to clean out their ears. Physicians on the other hand discourages this act as it’s capable of causing more harm than good.
According to them, the skin of the ear canal is very fragile and the use of cotton swabs can cause swelling, irritation and small tears in the ear canal skin. Also, this can make the ears itch more, resulting to infection.
2. Private Part
When it comes to your private part, there are certain products or soap that using them may not be a good idea. For instance, using scented soaps, duchess, liquids and other products are capable of interrupting the natural balance of bad and good bacteria in the region.
As a matter of fact, it is often referred to as a “self-cleaning oven” because it produces various discharge and fluids that helps to clean, lubricate and protect the organ.
3. Eyes
In order for you to avoid any trouble, try as much as possible to avoid cleaning out your eyes. This is because the lacrimal glands helps to produce tears which not only helps to lubricate the eyes but also to protect and clean the eyes from irritants and other debris.
4. Nose
You’ll agree with me that majority of adults are guilty of nose-picking which can lead to swelling and bleeding in the nose, therefore resulting to nose irritation.
Instead of using your finger to pick your nose when you feel dirty or congestion, the best thing you can do is to use saline spray or rinses. Also, ensure that you use distilled water to ensure that you are not introducing any harmful bacteria into your nose.
5. Colon
Physicians believe that colon cleansing is not necessary because the digestive tract already aid in removing waste from your system. The only instance where it’s necessary is when you are preparing for colonoscopy.
6. Hair
One of the major reasons why you should not wash your hair too frequently is because it can lead to a condition known as dermatitis or scalp condition.
If you apply shampoo too frequently on your hair, the chemical component of the shampoo may act as irritants. It is advisable that people with normal oil gland production can wash their hair every other day, while some with dry scalp should limit washing their hair to at least once or twice a week.
7. Arms And Legs
Even though it seem appropriate for you to always scrub your arms and legs constantly in the shower, it is not necessary because these parts don’t produce much oil. So, by using oil on them daily, you can cause the skin to dry out.
