Based on an article written by WebMD, there are some foods that are difficult to digest in the body due to their low fibre content and low proportion of antioxidants, vitamins, and other organic chemical compounds that can help to break down food in the intestines, increase the absorption of digested foods and nutrients, and also clear out toxins and excess bacteria that interfere with the digestion process and cause stomach problems like constipation, bloating, and many others. While these foods may be consumed in very small proportions, excess consumption of them should be avoided because they are not easy to digest and can affect the stomach. In this article, I want to briefly discuss some foods that are difficult to digest and why you should avoid eating them in excess.

1. foods high in insoluble fiber.

While soluble fibre aids in easy digestion of food and absorption of nutrients into the bloodstream, high insoluble fibre is difficult to break down even though it adds bulk to stools. Vegetable foods like spinach and kale are high in insoluble fibre and should only be consumed in moderation.

2. Foods high in carbohydrates like rice, whole grains, and many others are also not easy to digest. Even though carbohydrates can easily be broken down in the stomach, too many high carbohydrate-based foods can be difficult to digest. You should also avoid too much consumption of beans because they are also difficult to digest and often take a long time to properly breakdown in the body.

3. Fried foods are among the foods that are difficult to digest because many of them contain unhealthy fats and low fiber, and eating them will take a long time for them to be easily broken down in the body.

4. Another food that is difficult to digest is processed foods, which are also known to have very low fibre, low nutrients and high preservative chemicals and additives, which can increase the accumulation of toxins in the gut and can also irritate it. They can also make you feel bloated due to indigestion.
