Since Ghana qualified for the world cup, a lot of players have been linked to the team. A number of them including Eddie Nketiah, Inaki and his brother Nico Williams, Hudson Odoi, Tariq Lamptey are players expected to join the senior national team.
The current player whose name has come up is Dutch-born Elvis Manu. The prolific player has expressed his readiness to play for Ghana ahead of the world cup. The question is where were all these players when Ghana was going to play at African Cup of Nations and the world cup playoffs. Could it be that the world cup qualification has released all these players from their hideout or they really want to help their nation. Would these still have been available if Ghana had not qualified for the world cup? Maybe yes, maybe no.
Success, they say, has many friends, and failure is an orphan. This goes on to indicate that when you do things right, you will get support. The popular Akan adage says “whoever climbs the right tree is the one we push”. No matter how we see it, the combination of these new players and the old ones will form a solid team that will be able to compete with any team. May the right materials be selected to represent the nation.
